Apple IIc --> Mac QUESTIONS

Hello, everyone!

I started out way back about ten years ago using an Apple IIc. Nowadays,
I own a PowerComputing Mac clone, but the white "luggable" still is used
by my father right next to me.

We can tell, though, that the IIc is on its way out. The power supply is
going and other problems are appearing. Before we decide whether or not
to make the investment in trying to save the IIc, we want to make sure
those files are all converted over to the Mac so they can be still used.
We have something like three or four disk cases full of 5.25" disks, some
of which contain stories I wrote as a child. Needless to say, we want to
make sure those aren't lost forever.

So, how do I go about transferring these files from their 5.25" to be
able to be read on my Mac? I don't have any special modems or cards or
add-ons on the Apple IIc -- it just came with an internal 5.25" drive.
Someone told me that you can mount this drive as an AppleTalk volume --
is this true? how would I go about linking the two computers together?

I'm pretty clueless here, so if anyone could help me, I'd be most
grateful. It's been years since I've used the IIc -- all I want is to be
able to reclaim those AppleWorks files -- hundreds of them. There are
databases, spreadhseets and word procesing files that I simply must have
and unfortunately, just can't simply be retyped.

Please e-mail me if at all possible. thank you most graciously.

Michael
