Thanks for the reply Linda.  I received an email that suggested doing
just that and sure enough it works.

I wonder what AppleWorks (8-bit) could be doing that sets the environment
for FASTDATA Pro to run properly.  I'm using ProSel 16 so P8 is started,
AppleWorks is launched, I quit AW, and P8 is shutdown (I think).  Then
when P8 is started up again for use of FASTDATA Pro everything seems to
be fine.

Anyone have any ideas on what bit twiddling AppleWorks might be doing?
