Hmm...
I've heard of people having that problem the other way: disks formatted on GS's
can't always be read on the new power macs, but you say that you formatted on
the
power pc.
 
It seems the power pc drives are cheaper and not as sophosticated as
perdrive. The can't handle the variable speed trick
needed to read the 800k drives from the gs.
 
So your problem may be simpler.
 
Are you sure that your control panel is set to start with slot 5 and not scan?
 
be sure to check all connections.
