(created disks on his PowerMac, now can't get into GS/OS on the IIgs)

Several things to check:
a.  Did you make sure to put the disk images onto 800k disks?  If the PPC
formatted the disks for 1.44Mb, then you could have trouble.  Although I
suspect that is not the problem since you're getting "UNABLE TO LOAD
PRODOS" instead of "Check Startup Disk."

b.  Note that Disk *2* of the seven-disk set is the 800k startup disk!
