Dead DuoDisk or just dirty?

Aagh! I've just been trying to send some of my old disks to my Amiga for use
with my emulator, but I'm getting a LOT of read errors, even on disks that I'm
fairly sure haven't met their disintegration date!

Ok, drive heads must be dirty. It's a DuoDisk system, the infamous "sucks to
work on one" setup. I'd rather not search out a disk cleaner for 5.25" drives
(do they still exist?), so being pretty good at taking things apart, I figure
I'd give it a shot with some q-tips or good cloth and some cleaners.

Question is, what cleaners are recommended? I figure a normal tape head
cleaner and lubricant would be fine, but I'm just asking to make sure. I'm
referring to the radio shack 2-bottle cleaning package (the pink and blue
stuff).

Or maybe the 12-year old drives are near death.. or maybe the speed is out of
whack.. who knows..

Please respond by email, as I don't frequent this base. Thanks in advance.
