: I assume you want to set up some kind of serial connection between the

:
: You do _not_ want to involve the PC Transporter in this. The PCT has
: no serial ports of its own, so it uses the Apple II ports. It does
: this _very_ slowly. At best, I've only ever been able to get transfer
: rates of about 240 characters per second using a PC Transporter on an

: software (either GS/OS or ProDOS-8 based), then using the TRANSFER
: program to copy the files into the PC Transporter's hard drive, if
: they are PC-specific.
:
: The PC Transporter is really only useful in this case if you want to
: copy files to a disk on the 486, and read them on the IIgs. The
: TRANSFER program can then be used to copy the files over to a ProDOS
: disk.

The PC/T has to wait for things moved through the Apple's RAM, and
it doesn't like to. Printing is a problem. Modeming is virtually useless.
I also do far better by simply transfering directly to the Apple and then
print. A handy set of conversion programs like LIST.SYSTEM and TEX, as
well as the control-character filter patch for Appleworks makes it easier.
