Hmmmm...The Macintoshes in question here (in my case) are Quadra 660AV's,
running on an Ethernet network in a computer lab, equipped with the
MacLink Plus translation package for MS-DOS. MS-DOS disks mount up right
away, and HFS disks mount quickly, though sometimes the system complains a
bit about HFS disks created on the GS (I am thinking this might have
something to do with the now-famous HFS FST bug). Only the ProDOS disks
are intolerably slow, and they seem to crash ("Unable to read this disk.")
more often than Mac-native disks. It doesn't seem to matter whether the
ProDOS disk was created on my IIgs at home, or on my IIgs at work.
For the moment, I've resigned myself to using HFS for all my sneakernet
applications, but I can't read and write HFS on my GS at work (it's only
got 512k for crying out loud...), so it would be really nice to be able to
use ProDOS on those Macs. Any ideas?

(DOS 3.3 would be even better, but...)
