It depends on the machine.

In an enhanced IIe with the original motherboard, this is the second
RAM chip from the RIGHT (with the computer oriented so that the
keyboard is towards you).  I haven't seen the "platinum" IIe
motherboard up close, so I'm not sure how it works (I think it uses a
pair of 64Kx4 chips, instead of eight 64Kx1 chips).

I think the bit pattern is supposed to represent the data bus
ordering, which is the opposite way around from the order of the RAM
chips on the motherboard.
