Printing problems

Hi,

I've been trying to connect a Panasonic KX-P1124 printer to an Apple 2e.

The apple has a parallel card in slot 5. When I try to print using
Apple Works nothing happens! I'm pretty sure the cable and card are
OK and the printer definitely is - does anyone know if this printer
is compatible with the Apple or of anything obvious I might be doing
wrong. BTW I know absolutely *nothing* about Apples.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
