Fair enough...

: 1) I read that a revision A motherboard cannot display DHIRES graphics.
: My enhanced is an -A dated 1984; my unenhanced is a -B dated 1982.

Hmmm...If you have the miniature 64k 80 column board used in the newest
][e's, or if you have a standard extended 80-column card with the jumper
installed, give it a try. My understanding is that on Rev.A machines
(without DHR capability), installing the jumper on the extended 80-column
board would cause the machine to become inoperative. Try it...it
shouldn't cause any permanent damage.

: 2) The self-test displays "RAM 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 " & the computer crashes
: booting Prodos. Does this mean there is bad RAM? If so, which chip?

Afraid I don't know the answer to this one.

: 3) If because of either 1) or 2) above I decide to simply transfer the
: enhancement chips to my old IIe, can you tell me which 4 chips to
: swap? I know the 65C02. Are the other 3 the VIDEO ROM, CD ROM
: and EF ROM?

Bingo. Personally, I suggest that you keep your old VIDEO ROM available
in case you ever plan to run certain old programs. The Pascal version of
PFS:FILE jumps to mind as a program which is nearly impossible to use with
the "enhanced" character set.

: 4) The IIe came with an I/O CONTROLLER 655-0101-B running a DUO DISK.
: Will this controller work with a 3 1/2 " drive?

If that is the controller I think it is, then the answer is "no."
