Re: apple 2e questions

Oops - I forgot a few 3.5" drive controllers:

- The "PC Transporter" from Applied Engineering. When used as an
Apple disk controller, this supports selected PC-compatible drives (mainly
the "TransDrives" sold by AE) and the Apple 3.5 Drive (very slowly).

- The "BlueDisk", from a company in Germany whose name eludes me for
the moment. This supports PC-compatible disk drives. It cannot support
standard Apple II disk drives, or standard Apple II disk formats
  (140K 5.25" or 400K/800K 3.5"). With a high-density 3.5" drive, it will
be compatible with 1.44MB Mac and ProDOS disks (also with 720K disks,
which are rather rare on the Apple II).

- A SCSI card in conjunction with a Floptical drive. This supports PC
3.5" disk formats (720K, 1.44MB). Again, it will be compatible with
1.44MB Mac and ProDOS disks (and 720K). It doesn't support 400K/800K
disks. The Floptical also has its own native 21MB disk format.

There is also at least one much older card that supports PC-compatible
drives.
