I'm currently running ANSITerm 2.12, and I have not run into either of
these problems. A couple of things to check out, though...
Do you have a hardware-handshaking cable? When I first installed my 14.4
modem, I used the old cable from my 2400, and had the same "always online"
problem. Switching to a hardware-handshaking cable, and resetting the
hardware handshaking settings in ANSITerm solved that problem.
I didn't have any trouble with ASCII sends. In fact, the only shortcoming
I have yet found with the program is that although it is a GS-native-mode
program, it runs under ProDOS-8 instead of GS/OS, so I can't transfer
files from HFS disks...in fact, can't even use File-A-Trix to copy from
HFS disks to ProDOS...without shutting down ANSITerm.
If you like, email me and we can compare our system settings. Maybe we
can track down your problem...
