connection question

I would like to hook up my apple //e with my ibm (486). Can this be done? 
I was thinking about a null modem cable to connect the two computers. My 
//e has a db25 female serial port, and my 486 has a db25 male serial port 
(if that helps).  I also have a 9pin male serial port port on my 486 (i 
use it with my mouse, but that probably would not be good to connect with 
my //e, eh?

I called up quality computers, and the girl said to call the tech support 
line, so i did that.  I got the impression that I knew more about what I 
was talking about than the tech support guy ;)  anyway, they do indeed 
have a db25 male to db25 female NULL modem cable (the girl at the sales 
line said that), but i want to make sure it will really work before I buy 
it.  Will that cable work?  Oh, I have communications programs on both 
sides (proterm 3.1 on my //e and quite a few programs on my 486, i use 
Telix a lot though)
