SCSI ID setting -- PLEASE HELP!
SUMMARY: How do I set the SCSI ID of an Apple 160 MB hard drive to
anything but ZERO if I want to use it as an external drive.
I have a 160 MB Apple HD that I reomved from my 6100/60. I replaced the
drive with a Quantum 730. The 730 is working fine, but...
When I put the 160 MB in the 730's case (it had been an external), it
continued to think of itself as SCSI ID 0. Which--as most of us know--is
the ID the internal drive ALWAYS has. So I cannot access it. The
external's case has a SCSI selector, but the wires from the selector
switch end in a connector that deosn't have a place on the 160.
Does this make sense? There IS a row of jumpers on the front of the 160
MB drive, but only one plastic connector thingy (is there a name?). I
hesitate to start fooling, but I would like to get this drive back in
service.
Apple Computer (800/SOS-APPLE) talked to me like I was out of my mind and
told me they couldn't help. My local dealer told me to call Apple. <G>
