METAL/FV and AppleShare?

How much of METAL 1.9.7 and FV 4.1b6 can be stored for access via
AppleShare?  I've tried putting all of METAL in /RAM5 and FV on the
AppleShare volume and I'm getting ProDOS error #$4B (Unsupported File
Storage Type) and a slighty scrambled boot screen ("Ahhle II
Forever^JJHLnZZn.").  Returning to the Finder found me logged off the
server.  I seem to remember that earlier versions worked.  Any plans to
reinstate this functionality?
