EGO Systems Announces the Upcoming Release
of Shrink II for Macintosh

If you are a Macintosh user that also owns
(or you know someone that owns) an Apple II,
you know what a hassle it can be to move
files from one machine to another. It can be
especially frustrating to send files from a
Macintosh to an Apple II via modem, due to
the fact that there isn't a common archive
format on the two machines.

Shrink II is a new Macintosh application that
solves this problem by giving your Macintosh
the ability to work with ShrinkIt (TM)
archives that were created on the Apple II.
Shrink II also allows you to CREATE ShrinkIt
archives that you can share with your
Apple II-owning friends!

Even if you don't know anyone with an Apple II,
Shrink II gives you access to the tens of
thousands of ShrinkIt archives that you'll find
online all over the world. Inside those
archives you'll find thousands of files that can
easily be used on your Macintosh. Files like:
HyperStudio IIGS files (which can be used with
HyperStudio for the Mac), graphics and sound files
(which can be converted for use on the Mac), and
freeware and shareware applications that you can
use on any Macintosh equipped with the popular
Apple IIe card!

Here are some of Shrink II's features:

-*- Opens just about every Apple II archive
format (ShrinkIt, Binary II, SQueeze, Self-Extracting
Archives, AppleSingle, and more!).

-*- Can CREATE ShrinkIt archives that you can share
with any Apple II user. (You can also share them
with any other Shrink II user!) These archives can
even be created with Binary II wrappers.

-*- Can encode and decode files using the Apple II
BinSCII standard. (Allows you to easily transmit Apple
II archives over the Internet.)

-*- Shrink II has extensive Balloon Help. Using it,
you can open a ShrinkIt archive, point at a file in the
archive, and Shrink II will tell you what kind of data
is in the file as well as which Macintosh programs you
should use to access that data! (Shrink II will also
tell you which kinds of files you WON'T be able to use,
so you won't have to waste time with them!)

-*- Shrink II is completely scriptable with AppleScript.
Why is this important? Well, suppose that you are only
interested in ShrinkIt archives that contain ASCII Text
data files. You could write an AppleScript that tells
Shrink II to only extract the Text files from archives
and ignore all of the other files in those archives!
(In fact, Shrink II ships with an example script that
does this! And you can modify it to extract whatever
types of files you are interested in! [Like MIDI files,
or picture files, or font files, or...])

-*- Shrink II is "System 7 Savy." So, extracting files
from (or adding files to) an archive is as easy as
dragging and dropping. You can also switch to and use
any other application while Shrink II works in the
background. ("Drag and Drop" requires System 7.5, or
the Drag and Drop extension for System 7.0.)

-*- Shrink II is a "Fat" application that runs on
both 680x0-based Macs and PowerMacs. (It runs FAST
on PowerMacs!)

So, if you own a Mac and an Apple II, you know
someone with an Apple II, or you want access to the
thousands of Apple II archives that are out there,
you need to get Shrink II!

 System Requirements
-===================-
Shrink II requires a Macintosh (680x0 or PowerPC)
