I doubt this is true about MECC freeware --- San Diego City schools still 
pays good $$$ for a district license for dozens of titles. Disks are all 
copy-protected BTW --- if Mecc releases them w/ no protecetion, that 
might be a clue. They do have a tech support number 800-xxx?
Why not try & call them?
