A problem with AppleworksGS v1.1 on my Rom01 IIGS w/ System6.0.1 has
recently crept up. Perhaps other programs are affected, but I've
mostly noticed it with AWGS. AWGS won't allow me to access its
dictionaries. (Access to file not allowed, or something similar).
So I recopied the dicts. into the AWGS folder. Still the same problem.
I then checked the file type with Super Info.
Filetype: ???
Auxtype: $8002
Hmmm. So I went checked out my Rom3.
Filetype: $D0
Auxtype: $8002
Hmmmm. Back to the Rom01 and tried to change the filetype with
Super Info to $D0. After clicking change, it comes back to ???. I
can change the filetype to $04, $06, $B0, etc. (I just tried a few),
but I _can't_ change the filetype to $D0.
I've trashed the desktop file, and the finder.root and finder.data files,
but it doesn't help. I don't see anything strange in the Icons folder,
but I'm not sure what to look for. The AppleFileType file (I can't recall
exact name) seems to have proper filetype info messages, but I haven't
exactly done a proper search for $d0 or $8002.
My hunch is it is a GSOS system problem, not a AWGS problem. But I don't
know what got messed up on the system. Would a full re-install of the
GSOS system601 resolve it? Or do I have a subtle file info conflict I
need to track down and eliminate. The Rom01 and AWGS didn't always have
this problem, but I've done something unknown recently to mess it up I
guess. Any suggestions?

Rom01, 4Meg RamGS, Apple SCSI Rev C, 40 Meg HD, 1 Apple 3.5, 1 apple 5.25,
Apple RGB. Nothing fancy, but a pretty good student system (this is the
one my daughter uses).
