We've all heard this before. That MS-DOS and Windows will kill the 
Macintosh. I use a PC clone, and just spent 4 hours over a friend's house 
trying and failing to set up a CD ROM drive. He has a 486-66 with 16 megs 
and is running Windows 95. After finally giving up on the damn thing we 
were talking about other weird stuff. Like his LAN has started getting a 
little flakey since installing Windows 95. His full page scanner locked 
up the system while we were trying to use it. And various and other 
sundry quirks that have arisen since installing Windows 95. On the other 
hand, some of my friends with Macintoshes speeak of the joys of plug & 
Play for all sorts of peripherals. I parted together my system starting 
with an old 286 clone and slowly building it up with various upgrades. I 
wish I could have afforded to just go out and buy a Macintosh. Don't get 
me wrong, I've been very luckey on mine. No major glitches and second 
hand software is plentiful and cheap. But compared to even the GS, the PC 
interface is pokey at best. When given a choice between a good DOS 
program and a windows program, I usually go for the DOS version because 
they tend to be more stable. I hate to lose work because the system 
hangs. If the software was available for the GS, I never would have 
switched. The PC clone may have the lions share of the market, but Apple 
will always have it's own portion carved out. Now with the inclusion of 
IBM as a co-developer of the Power PC, you may see MS DOS losing market 
share. After all, some corporations won't buy anything but Big Blue.
