I always doubt these PowerPC vs. Pentium comparisons. I watched one once
where they were comparing graphics packages. On the pentium was the windows
version of the program, on the PPC was their version, and it kicked the
pentiums butt. Problem is, the version they were using was compiled for
the PPC processor, the windows version was the plain vanilla windows version
which is compiled to run on a 386. Re-write windows AND the software to
fully utilize the Pentium and I doubt the difference would be so dramatic.
What most of these comparisons do is compare new PPC optimized software to
old legacy software that must run on a tons of old machines. It's all
marketing...technical issues ignored.
