The incident mentioned in my previous post occurred when CP/M and 8080/Z80
computers were still in regular use - when an IBM PC still cost several
thousand dollars and the XT and AT hadn't yet made much of a mark....
The software in question was not 10 years old at the time, probably not even
one year old. Needless to say, their response left me less than thrilled
with MIcrosoft's product support.
Do Windows 3.1 or WFWG 3.11 or MSDOS 6.22 no longer exist because
Windows 95 has been released? There are still many people using those
products who may want help and support with problems. I'd venture to guess
there are thousands of computers in the sales pipeline that have those older
versions installed - do people purchasing them not deserve some support?
