Before I got my Extended Keyboard,I would clean the GS keyboard by
first prying each keycap off its switch. TClean each keycap off with a
little soapy water on a cloth, and clean with a Q-Tip the space around
and between the switches. That ought to get all of that sticky junk out
of the way.

BTW, the best thing you can do for your keyboard is wash your hands
before using your computer. No kidding. You'd be surprised how much
junk can be transferred from hand to keyboard. It also helps to keep a
dust cover-type thing on the keyboard.
