Disclaimer: I do not remember where I first heard the following
I do not have any idea how much truth there is to it.
It may have only been rumor, myth, propaganda??
                         but
Somewhere a few years ago I heard something about that in the early
days of Apple Computer Co. they were, supposedly, sued by Apple Records
(you know - the Beatles) for trademark infringement. At that time, from
what I heard, Apple Computer won. BUT they ruling said something along
the lines of that they could not make a machine capable of making and/or
recording music/sound. Since the "S" in "GS" equals sound - Apple
records was supposed to have re-sued and won.

If anyone else out there ever heard anything like this please
post here. BUT PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS AS FACT WITHOUT OTHER
CONFIRMATION. I almost didn't post this for fear of starting an
untrue rumor. That is why I'm making sure I stress that I don't know
if any of this is/isn't fact.

P.S. as for the original title - I use a Laser 128 (no EX). It is no
match GS wins hands down in all areas except price. If the above proves
to be just a rumor the fact remains - much of the audience for the
type of machine that the //e and //GS were about had trouble scraping
together the price Apple was asking for a system. (That DOESN'T mean
that said machines weren't worth the money.)
