There is a simple asnwer, the main program that I see is that you are
using GSCII or what ever its called. The files here on the newsgroups are
no in that format. They are in UUencoded format. You need to first
uudecode them and most internet providers allow you to uudecode before
you DL. If you are using TIN news reader then you are in luck and let me
know via email and I will give you directions. Anyhow once you have the
midi file in your hands then you need to change the file type to $D7
Thats the file type for midi files. You can listed to the songs are they
are with SythLab, you need to convert them. I recomend that you use Midi
Sergeon version 2.0 which is avaliable with the latest Gs+. Once you set
the midi file to the proper file type, then midi sergeon will see it and
you can then 'translate' the file so that you can play it on your GS. Be
aware that the translated file will proably not sound too good, you will
need to make some changes such as re-assingh instruments and such. All
this info and a walk trhough can be found in the article in the latest
GS+ N6 V6 and its ppretty well written, this is just a real bare bones
explanation to get you on your toes. Good Luck!
