You need to download .shk files in BINARY mode at each step of the
way, including when you ftp the file from ftp.cco.caltech.edu. To do
this, type "bin" and hit return after you open a connection, but
before you get any files. However you get the files to your home
machine should also be in binary mode, but fortunately, Zmodem
defaults to that.
All regular files at ftp.cco should work just fine, but files in
the "incoming" directory have not been checked. Those files may be
damaged, but people will usually complain and they will be properly
reuploaded.
