A local Apple II BBS here has just shut down for good. The hardware was an
Apple II+ with two 3.5 inch drives.
 
 That system has been up for eight months at a time (Two month shutdown during
the summer) for the better part of ten years now!
 
Apple II computers can quite happily take as many hours as you care to leave
them on. However, as has been mentioned by others, if you have a large number
of I/O cards, get a fan. The rule of thumb that I use is get a fan if there
are more than two I/O cards in the Apple.
