Just an educated guess: embedded tables, diagrams and/or pictures.

There is no widely distributed IIgs program that supports embedded
pictures in a text document.  MS Word is probably more commonly
available than GraphicWriter or AppleWorks GS Page Layout, not not
mention being much more stable than the latter.
