I'm not sure how much voltage the Mac Powerbooks take, but you might
look into trying those flat batteries that are sold for them by a
third-party company. They probably wouldn't fit the footprint of your
//c, but at least they'd be flat and more unobtrusive than, say, a car
battery. :^)
