Would describe the clicking? Is it rapid (several times per second) or
slow (1 second or more between clicks).
If the clicking is rapid, I would suggest a power supply problem. I've
had some drives that could suck a power supply down so far that the
drives' spindle brake would sit there chattering because there wasn't
enough energy to keep it off and spin the drive up too.
