(1) Your question belongs on comp.sys.apple2.comm, since that's the group
for modem and networking discussions.

(2)  You need to use the right modem driver and init string for the modem.
The driver and init string you're using now are TELLING the modem to
communicate at 2400 bps.

   It may even be only 3.0 and higher that have drivers for such high speed
modems.

Mail proterm@intrec.com to ask about upgrade possibilities or if there are
newer drivers that work with your old version of ProTERM.
