Apple 40 tape drive

Hello. I have received an Apple 40 meg Tape drive through the mail, and
it appears that UPS dropped it or decided to play catch with it as it is
not working as the Old owner said, and I have no Doubt that he is speaking
the truth, I really want the drive, so now I hope to find someone on here
that knows alot about the Apple Brand 40SC tape so that I can go about
fixing it myself, or finding someone who can. I know, for what it may cost
to fix, I could buy this and that etc. Which is why I hope someone maybe
able to help.

I have tested the drive on both a Mac SE and a IIGS with ramfast etc.
Both computers says its there, but that they cannot receive any info from
the device. It is not a ID conflict, or any other easy fix like that
unfortunatly, or so I think. when I place a DC2000 tape in the drive it
will spin the tape around, lights on etc, and then it just stops at the
other end of the tape and the red LED starts flashing, and thats all it
will do. Except, that the last 3 tapes I put in, the drive rewound them
to far. i.e. off the spool on one side. (I know how to fix that part, and
have already fixed them), There really isnt much more to it than that, It
does the same thing on both compute's. Any susgestions???????????????

Please e-mail me with replys, as I do not have as much tim,e as I would like
to read through all the forums. :)

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.......
