Personally, I agree with you. I prefer the speed of text access over the
flashy GUI interface for online stuff. But the fact remains that lots of
people really do prefer the GUI interface for its ease of use and because
it looks good. Just look at how popular Mosaic and Netscape are. They are
certainly not required, and they are slow, but people like them. At least
with GEnie (and CIS) you are still given the choice, unlike Prodigy, AOL
and others which force you into a GUI.
