But there was a variant, the 65802 or whatever they called it, that was/is pin-compatible with the 6502. As far as I know, only Merlin-16 from Roger Wagner (the greatest proigram on this planet!!) does run 16-bit code on non-IIGS machines. (Or does it always run in 16bit and is incompatible with 8-bit CPUs? Dunno..) At least it works with a 16-bit Apple II. - henrik
