IIgs Newbie Question

I've got some basic questionas about a IIgs I recently purchased. This is 
an Apple IIe to IIgs conversion. Here are the questions:

1. Where might I find an operating system? The Machine has 2 3.5" drives 
and a dual 5.25" drive system (although I think only one of the latter will 
read)

2. Is it possible to add a HD from a Mac (such as a Quantum) to this 
puppy and load the OS and programs?

3. How much memory should I add to make this productive for really basic 
SW such as Print Shop, AppleWorks, and some MECC stuff? Also where do I 
get a card and chips?

4. Is there a good magazine(s) and/or book(s) to read to get familiar 
with the IIgs.

I might add that this is the 2nd IIgs I've had in my hands in the past 4 
months. The first I cleaned up and gave (actually, he begged for it!) to my 
father-in-law, but this one I'm determined to keep for the kids!
