foxpro vs appleworks

With respect to searching & finding records how does FoxPro (preferably FP for
DOS) running on a 486DX-33 (or better) compare to Appleworks and/or DBMaster
running on an accelerated and Ramfast equipped //gs ? For example:

My Appleworks Forum database indexes articles from Aug86 to Sep94, a total of
1923 records, 10 fields each. It takes 8 seconds to find records containing
SOFTSWITCH. If the Forum database was converted to a FoxPro file and run on a
PC Clone could I expect to find matches only a 'fraction' faster than P8 apps
on my //gs or would the difference really be noticeable ? I can't ask this in
IBM PC areas because those users generally think all Apple // machines perform
like an Apple ][+. Thanks.

PS I'm not even *thinking* about discarding my GS.
