New 2qwk! problems

I recently aquired my copy of 2qwk! 1.26b4 and have been pretty happy
about it (with added mouse support :) ) until today.
I downloaded my mail packet and unZIPed it with Angel as usual and
started up 2qwk. It scanned through all the message bases to see which
ones had messages (like normal) then froze and said "String Too Long".
What does that mean? It wouldn't let me read my mail. It would only
restart (and repeat the error) or quit!

I tried using version 1.24 which I kept around just in case, and it
worked just fine, too! Strange.........
