AE HD

   Does anyone know the difference between the Applied Engineering HD+ (
1.44 Meg Mac ) drive and the HD ( 1.6Meg Apple IIgs ) 3.5 drives??  I have
been told that the 1.6 Meg driver will only work under GSOS 5.02.  I do
have a HD+ and the HD driver.  The drive recognizes the drive just it won't
format.  I kind of expected that though.  I suspect the ROM is the difference. 
Though there seems to be an empty 8 pin dip for something.  Any clues??
