Umm... How can anyone do anything about the prices things go for at an auction? The only way I know how is to not bid and thereby keep the end price a little lower but that won't stop others from making the price go extremely high.
However, I must admit that I've only ever been to eBay's site about a dozen times in my life. Some to just look at links like the one that started this thread (and no I didn't look at this one) and when I was trying to set up an account to sell stuff on eBay only to find that I couldn't use my PayPal account to verify me and that I needed a credit card to do so. This was a few years ago and I still don't have a credit card that I can use to verify myself on eBay so I just gave up on the idea altogether. Besides, I never much liked auctions.
