I have used ebay for the majority of all my Apple II stuff for the
last 15 years. We may not like that prices are going up, but surely
the prices that things go for on ebay is a reflection of the current
value of Apple ii items (The Transwarp though was just getting a bit
silly). There is always the years directly after a computer becomes
obselete when people move on to new more capable machines and this
will be the period when the older equipment can be picked up free or
for next to nothing. Obviously as years go by people start to get the
retro bug/nostalgia and things become rarer it is only natural prices
go up.
Unless there is somewhere I am missing there is nothing that can
compare (imo) to ebay for the "shopping/browsing" experience.
I suspect one reason prices go up is the Apple II in certain countries
wasn't as prevalent as the US and hence we haven't had the option to
pick up from thrift stores ;-), or only source is places like ebay.
