Re: Insane eBay
Well, you all have good comments on this topic.
I do see a negative side as this shuts out people who are looing to
get into this hobby sadly because of the greedy shills that are being
placed on these items up for auction.
Quite frankly, we here know how much it should cost and we know we
cant control an auction.
So, what can be done:
-report when it looks like there are shills being placed! (dont just
sit there and complain, do something!)
-educate the new people coming into the market with good conversation
here on csa2 (thanks guys)
-educate the newcomers of all of the resources available to them in
regards to community support as well as a suggested retail price on
all OEM items for the apple2. Basically, make a list, which can be
updated that will list an average going price that one should pay over
on ebay. This would ONLY go for Apple equipment, meaning, we should
still see many transwarps (even though they are not totally rare)
still go for insane amounts. Items I am referrinig to is main
computer system, monitors, disk][, unidisks, keyboards, mice. This
would not be for software or other hardware cards. Anything that is
currently being produced today also wouldnt be on this list. It
really is a simple list that would list all of the apple2 family of
computers, nothing less, nothing more. People paying 129.99 for a
disk][ controller cards is just not fair to the emerging market.
I for one would love to make this information public. How about also
mentioning other places to find equipment besides ebay and have that
information listed on this list as well. Thrift shops, craigslist,
paun shops, etc.
The only issue is that I am limited on the amout of time I have at the
moment to compile such information...but if this can get done, I will
post it on ebay as free information to help curb this shilling
nonsense and help contain the information.
For those of you who disagree, hey, thats your opinion and your free
to have it (you do know what they say about opinions--and we all know
who has them here). Thinking outside the box is sometimes necessary.
If you have another solution not listed to curb shills and such,
please comment on this for the betterment of all of us here taking the
time to read this. If you have negative bashing comments, do like
mother told you....if you dont have something nice to say, dont say it
at all. If you must say it, call me - my number is listed on my
site.
