ProLine & Partitions

Just a quick note on how we finally decided to resolve what turned
out to be really our only serious concern about using ProLine as our
user groups Apple II BBS. To sum up the problem...ProLine's primary
file system (the access through Plush) is limited to a single partition,
which is way too small for the large BBS we wanted to set up. It's also
limited (largely) to XModem file transfers, though this was considered
a minor issue. Neither issue is a problem through the C-Shell (csh),
but that's territory for more advanced users. Beyond this one issue,
we really wanted to use ProLine, so we devised the following simple
scheme...

We plan to maintain a core library of the most popular and useful files
in the Main library on the boot partition, about 20-25 Mb of files. All
other files (some 60+ Mb at this time) will be "offline" on other
partitions. A complete catalog of files with descriptions will be made
available through the Main Library and users will be able to request
any of the files from the offline Branch Libraries. These files will be
delivered through a shelf in the Main Library called the Mail Room which
we originally set up for users to send files to each other. Experienced
users should be able to access all the files directly using csh. We
only let files stay in The Mail Room for 7 days to keep it from getting
full.

Sounds like a plan, now we'll see how well it works :)

Have fun!
