Does NameFix help with the ProDOS FST at all, or is only for use with
ProDOS-8?

Yeah - DOS 3.3 is _really_ bad if you want information about the files
- the first data sector of each Applesoft, Integer or Binary file must
be read to get the file size (and "auxiliary type" for Binary files),
and the meaning of these fields varies depending on the filetype. Text
files don't even have a stored length (the only way to determine the
actual size is to read the entire track/sector list, find the last
allocated sector, and find the last zero byte in it).
