it says something to the effect of this:

        Since QWK packets are normally encoded in .ZIP format,
        You will need a .ZIP extractor to use them.
        Because of that, we feel it is legitimate to compress
        this software in .ZIP format.

it's Pkzip, or compatible... from the IBM world.  i know certain unix 
things can handle this format, as can UNZIP for //e (attention II+ 
owners with 80col:  i'm almost done patching it for us... it should be 
ready in a few weeks.  email me if you're interested.).  ANGEL can also 
handle .ZIP, and can do some limited .QWK stuff as well.

(ANGEL really does require a //e for some things, although it -should- 
be patchable for a II+...)

if you're having problems, contact a friend who uses MSDOS (i.e. IBM or 
compatible).
