I always thought that MS-DOS names were bad (8+3). Then I started using
ProDOS. Suddenly, I am limited to 15 characters, no symbols, no spaces,
no lower-case, no unprintables.
UNIX takes it a bit far. But I kind of like the rules Woz set down back
in circa. 1979--
a. Filenames must begin with a character of ASCII code >63
b. Commas are not permitted*
c. Filenames must be shorter than 31 characters.
*due to practical considerations, ^M's are effectively not usable, though
their use will not trigger a DOS error.
