Do you have a joystick, Koala Pad, or set of paddles plugged in?  You
might just have something pushing Button #1 when you do the
three-finger-salute.  Of course, on my machine, if you hold down both
apples (which is what I suspect is happening to you) and press RESET, it
does the self test, but the test is accompanied by a high pitched, very
unpleasant noise.

BTW:  It is also obvious that you have an UNenhanced ][e since the
enhanced ][e says "System OK", while our machines give the
slightly-more-cryptic "KERNEL OK".

Anyway, if you have a game controller of some type, try unplugging it
(with the power off, please!) and see if that makes the problem go away.
