to which I reply:
SECONDED! I've never had a Disk ][ mechanically chew up a disk, either.
But in the 5.25 drive, occasionally disks get jammed so mthat the
spring-loaded mechanism fails. More frequently, the drive door refuses to
latch. When that happens, the disk pops out just enough that the upper
mechanism comes down on top of it when you try again to shut the door.
I've seen some nasty consequences to that action (no, not my computer or
disk). Those things are nasty if the disk jams in the slot!
