RamFAST & SCSI II problems
I'm still having problems with my DEC DSO3053L 535MB SCSI II hard drive
with my RamFAST Rev.D 3.01e ROM on my GS. Since the installation, I've
been haunted by frequent and mysterious crashes. Each time it does lock
up, it does so badly that the screen usually goes all black when I go
command-ctrl-reset and only turning it off will reset it. Occasionally I
will see a lower-case 'e' at the lower right corner.
Some of you suggested that it might have been the terminator, but that's
been checked. I've turned off the terminating power on the drive, as well
as disabled internal termination.
My setup is as follows:
DEC DSP3053L SCSI ID:6 (installed in a Vulcan case)
SyQuest 88 SCSI ID:2 external, with terminator
Slot 1 Quickie controller
Slot 2
Audio Animator
Slot 3 Apple II Video Overlay Card
Slot 4 TransWarpGS 7MHz/32k cache
Slot 5 Vacant
Slot 6 RamFAST Rev.D 1MB, 3.01e ROM
Slot 7 Vacant
ROM 3 GS, with 5MB RAM
Now someone once asked me why I have my RamFAST in slot 6, that's where
it's always been for me. When I had my Vulcan, it's controller card was
installed in slot 7. Personally I doubt that moving the RamFAST to slot 7
would make any difference. Someone here also mentioned that they've had
similar problems with a SCSI II device. Are there any fixes out there?
Does the RamFAST support SCSI II devices?
