The parity bit is accessed via a pin on the socket which should have
no connection on IIgs SIMM memory cards. The presence of the ninth
bit should make no difference to the usability of the SIMM. It will
never be accessed.
Having said that, I have heard that there have been cases where a
9-bit SIMM doesn't work properly in a computer/memory card designed
for 8-bit SIMMs. I have no idea why. It is more likely to be a
problem with the type of memory used, or the refresh method supported,
rather than the presence of the ninth bit.
