"Archiver" problems

I have used the Archiver program to make backups of eight partitions of
about 180mb total.  Those hard drives are now all wiped clean, and I
have only the backups available.  I have heard a little about it being a
program with problems, but I have heard nothing specific.  Since I'm
restricted to using 3.5" disks for archiving I went ahead and used
that program anyhow.  I found that a 32mb archive successfully restored
onto a 32mb partition on my system with the same hard drive, same SCSI
card, and same operating system (6.0).  A 10mb archive, however, didn't
successfully restore onto a 32mb partition.  I didn't know that would
happen.

Now I'm in a real dilema: I have a new hard drive, and I'm using system
6.0.1, and nothing is properly restoring onto my new drive.

Would someone kindly let me know if/how I can ever get all those files
back with my current setup?  I have no idea what the known problems with
Archiver are.  Thanks a lot.
