Hmm, only the old version of IWem that came with my workstation card wastes a
page when it downloads. You might want to make sure you have the current system
software.

Some like my PLW NTR support concurrent localtalk and serial connections. The 
NTR does parallel as well. You want to make sure you use localtalk.

You definitely want to use the laserwriter driver with native software. IWem
is only intended for 8 bit software which expects to print to printers with
built in character sets. It does a great job too, I can print to my laserwriter
with Appleworks on my //e with workstation card, and even spool it through
Appleshare 3.0 print server if I feel like it.

So here's the bottom line: make sure the printer is connected via localtalk,
install any network printer stuff you need, use the laserwriter driver to
print in native apps, and use IWem for 8 bit stuff. It will work when you do
it right.

I did notice that I didn't see the word laserwriter in the original article.
If you're using a non Apple printer, all bets are off.
